I’ll admit, I haven’t explored a whole lot of parks in New York, but so far Bryant Park is my favourite. Where else can you sit on a hot summer day and listen to free live opera while flipping through a magazine at the free Reading Room and checking my emails with the free wi-fi? And don’t forget the free summer movies and the Southwest Porch bar.
There was a time in the 70s when Bryant Park was a down trodden place, dominated by drug dealers and avoided by midtown workers. But after a three year renovation, in 1992 the park re-opened to become the urban oasis that it is now.
In the winter the park turns into Christmas markets which is a huge perk for me as I love Xmas markets. And if I can get a mulled wine as well, bonus points. Throw in some free ice skating and this place is way better than Rockefeller Center.
