The Apocalyptic Pillar at the Cathedral of St John the Divine is eerie as it was a premonition of 9-11 and the World Trade Center attack.

On the entrance of the Cathedral, stonemasons had sculpted numerous scenes that seem odd for a Church. What is chilling is that there is a depiction of the destruction of New York and its famous landmarks like the Chrysler Building, the Citigroup Center and the Twin Towers. What is eerie is that it was created in 1997, four years before the destruction of the World Trade Center.

So why was this depiction carved onto the Cathedral in the first place? It’s said that St John the Divine, wrote the Book of Revelation in the Bible which describes the events of the apocalypse in symbolic imagery. This Apocalyptic Pillar, carved on the entrance depicts New York as being “Babylon the Great”, the city who gets destroyed by the wrath of God.

Another odd thing to find inside the Cathedral, is a September 11th Memorial display by Meredith Gang Bergmann which is of a bronze statue of a woman holding planes in her hands. Below that is actual concrete and fabric from the rubble of the World Trade Center.

Coincidence or Prophetic? I’ll let you decide.
